Good news for all students who are soon to be graduating from one of fourteen prominent European design schools located in the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Belgium or Holland. H&M has launched the H&M Design Award which is to help support talented designers and push them “in the right direction, so that they can continue to grow and develop in their work as fashion designers.” Here’s the really awesome thing about this competition: the winner receives 50,000 euros (approximately $64,000 US) and an intense amount of immediate recognition.
In the video below, Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s Head of Design, hooks up with a panel of judges including Cia Jansson, the Creative and Fashion Director of ELLE Sweden. The fashion heavyweights join together to meet the six finalists and decide which would represent Sweden in the overall competition.
We love a good backstory and that is what this online video series is giving! Click over to the H&M Design Award site to watch Isabelle, the Swedish finalist, discuss how deeply her mother has influenced her.
PS, the winner will be revealed on February so make sure you continually check back to the site as more videos are uploaded.
