Cameron Crowe has directed some pretty awesome movies over the years and with the release of We Bought a Zoo, he is aiming to add another notch to his director’s belt. Things are a little different with Zoo as Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada) penned the original version before Crowe was able to send it through his own writing filters. This was just fine with Fox’s Production President, Emma Watts.

“There’s nothing quite like a turn through his typewriter,” Watts says. There are so many lines from Crowe movies that stick in the popular psyche: “You complete me.” “You had me at hello.” “Show me the money.” “The guy just writes lines that you think of your whole life,” Watts says.

Crowe also turned on the charm, so to speak, in order to secure Matt Damon, the film’s leading man. While Damon was filming True Grit, Crowe showed up on set with a plethora of artifacts that was given to Damon in order to woo and seduce him. It worked because Damon gets top billing alongside Hollywood siren Scarlett Johansson.

Also starring in this comedy-drama are young actors Colin Ford, Maggie Elizabeth Jones and Elle Fanning. With Crowe by their side, these four young actors posed with a selection of animals shot by photographer Jeff Minton for The Hollywood Reporter. Shout out to that zebra!
