Let’s start with a little lesson today, shall we? Does anyone know what the word “obsession” means? Let’s revert to our friend, Dictionary.com. Obsession (noun): the domination of one’s thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc. We are obsessed and fully blame designer Yigal Azrouël for leading us down this path. His menswear Spring 2012 collection this season at New York Fashion Week was spectacular.
The outerwear pieces with the leather cowl’s? The denim jacket with the leather sleeves? The drawstring trousers? Is it normal for our hearts to beat this fast? There was a quiet strength in the pieces with enough quirk to be considered modern. We are big fans of the modern here at Pier59 Digital Studios, so this collection was obviously after our heart.
Something else that we were geeking over? All of the incredibly stylish folks in the audience. Jewelry designer Thomas K of Daimyo flaunted accessories of his own creation while Parisian beauty, Laura, rocked some studded Christian Louboutin flats. But the one person to pique our interest the most was Michael Hainey, the always dapper Deputy Editor of GQ magazine.
As we walked away from the show, we were pretty pumped up. Our Twitter (@Pier59Studios) reflected this excitement as well which drove us to look over our footage for the rest of the day. It was, by far, one of the best shows to help close out New York Fashion Week.
