It’s The Year of the…Cat?

Yes, according to the Chinese calendar it is the year of the dragon but leave it to fashion to pick their own animal mascot. Simply following tradition would certainly not be in vogue, now would it? The question then on everyone’s lips is “What animal is in for 2012?” and we can tell you that it is the cat.

Karl Lagerfeld recently shared a photo of Choupette, his new pet, that has become a little star in its own right. StyleCaster? They’re totally “smitten” with this kitten.

We’ve also become infatuated with Jason Wu’s mischievous cartoon black cat. It’s got the most fashionable claws we’ve seen yet. It designs part of the Jason Wu for Target collection for crying out loud!

The latest to join this group? Victoria Beckham in all of her sharp angled glory. In a short film to showcase and promote her new lower priced line, Victoria, cats show up in the form of face-masks, patterns and more.

With these fashion superstars endorsing cute little felines in their advertisements (and simply in their personal lives), we wonder how many others will follow suit?

We know one person who won’t mind an influx of stylish cat-inspired fashions: our producer. In an office debate about cats and dogs (don’t ask), she was the only one to stick up for the slinky, felines. We guess this round goes to her.

H&M is wasting no time with their high-end designer collaborations are they? Check out a leaked ad of the Marni for H&M collection (Fashionologie) which hits stores in March. Speaking of collaborations! Last night, Jason Wu had a party in SoHo in honor of the Jason Wu for Target collection (Fashionista). Blake Lively was late to the red carpet and ended up stealing poor, little Chloe Moretz’s red carpet thunder. Kate Middleton also stole herself some extra attention recently! The Duchess of Cambridge has just been named the Hat Person of the Year by the Headwear Association (E! Online). We bet Princess Beatrice is pissed.

It’s cool if she is because Madonna might feel the same way. In a little teaser video showing her in the studio with M.I.A. (YouTube), Madge decided to bust a move, she was promptly told to stop. Talk about a royal shut down. In other music news, Amy Winehouse’s father is livid (Entertainment Weekly) because of the recent Jean Paul Gaultier show in Paris that payed homage to her (Style.com).

In happier news, Adriana Lima is still showing off her rocking body. The Brazilian stunner has been in St. Barts for a Victoria’s Secret shoot (Pop Sugar) roughing it out in the horrible (read: amazing) conditions. Former VS Angel, Gisele Bundchen, also got her sexy on for the latest Versace Jeans campaign (OHLALA Mag) shot by Mert & Marcus.

And how about this? Angry Birds is coming to Facebook (Engadget). Happy weekend!

Chanel’s “Numéros Privés” Exhibition Brings out the Stars

On Saturday, Chanel opened their “Numéros Privés” exhibition at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and it was chock full of gorgeous women. In attendance were Alexa Chung who played DJ, Rachel Zoe, China Chow, Leigh Lezark and more. Yes, each brought their own personality and beauty but the stand-outs that night were Jessica Alba and Lily Collins.

Alba wears a black and white monochromatic dress from the Cruise 2012 collection opting to ditch the black knee high boots for a platform heel instead. With a simple red lip and her hair spilling over one shoulder, she looked sophisticated and sexy all at the same time.

Collins looked fresh and youthful in a printed floor scraping dress from, what Just Jared is labeling, the Pre-Spring/Summer 2012. While her look is vastly different from Alba’s, the two were eye-catching for all of the right reasons.
