“The Dark Knight Rises” Gets a Rise Out of Us

“You’re all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us,” Selina Kyle purrs into Bruce Wayne’s ear, a mask on her face as they slow dance at some sort of event. If, by some odd chance, this draws a blank for you, it is a line pulled from one of the most anticipated films of the year, The Dark Knight Rises. The film rounds of Christopher Nolan’s take on the popular Batman franchise including into The Dark Knight’s greatest love interest: Selina Kyle aka Catwoman.

The film, which rests at a comfortable #6 on the Vulture’s “Anticipation Index”, made us want to click over to YouTube and watch the trailer all over again. The heavy feeling it wraps you in is enough to give us the chills time after time. Yeah, we were a little iffy on casting pretty, wholesome Anne Hathaway as Catwoman but if this trailer is anything to go by, she’s done a fantastic job.

Watch the trailer below and see why tickets are already on sale for this movie that doesn’t even come out until this summer!

“TimeScapes” Documentary Makes Nature Look Bad Ass

New York City, we love you and all of your concrete insanity but sometimes we just want to be surrounded by soil, grass, rocks and maybe a bubbling brook. Enter Tom Lowe’s time lapse photography documentary, TimeScapes. Through using a RED EPIC and Canon RAW camera, Lowe was able to create a unique “portrait of the American Southwest.

The imagery is absolutely breathtaking and our office has watched the trailer numerous times over the last few days. Lowe makes nature look bad ass. Major props!

The documentary, which will be released in May 2012, is available for pre-order now.

Madonna’s W.E. Gets a Super Bowl Boost

Sunday night, the Cinema Society & Piaget screened Madonna’s film, W.E., at the Museum of Modern Art and Madonna had no qualms with politely putting a rude reporter in their place. When asked why she thought she could direct a movie, Madonna replied with this: “Well, I’ve been on a few film sets in my day and I’ve been married to a few directors, so I’ve picked up some tips along the way.” Classy way out of that question, M!

W.E. tells the tale of Wally Winthrop (Abbie Cornish), a woman obsessed with the love story of King Edward VIII (James D’Arcy) and Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough). On Wally’s own journey, she begins to realize that everything wasn’t as heavenly romantic as she once thought between Edward and Wallis. Watch the trailer below.

W.E. will get a limited release in New York and Los Angeles starting this weekend before being widely released in February. It has also now been confirmed that Madonna will perform at the Super Bowl just days before her film gets released. That will most definitely shine a glaringly bright spotlight on the film’s release. Good timing, Madge!

Charlize Theron Battles Julia Roberts…Sort Of.

If you haven’t heard, Snow White is coming to the big screen in 2012…twice. First up will be Mirror, Mirror scheduled to fly into theaters in March. This film features Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen and the very refined Lily Collins as Snow White. Next up is the June release of Snow White and the Huntsman starring Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen and Kristen Stewart as Snow White. Yeah, we get the story is about this girl banished to the forest but what we really want to know is who makes the better Evil Queen.

We have finally been able to see both trailers for ourselves and it has become clear that there really should be no war between these two movies. They are completely different! Mirror, Mirror will probably be a huge hit with the family audience as Roberts pulls faces and makes light of not being as fair as Snow White. Huntsman is all dark and brooding with Charlize Theron really coming across as evil. Looks like we might have a winner! Check out the trailers below.

See what we mean? But considering we enjoy the light and the dark, we just might end up seeing both.

Shot at P59: Jason Wu’s Resort 2012 Film by KT Auleta

Jason Wu’s Resort 2012 collection is pretty rad, providing a wardrobe for the ladies who lunch. Don’t take that as an insult because today’s lady who lunches include mother’s like Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes and Adriana Lima. It’s okay. We know you regret shaking your head in disagreement before reading that list of hotness. But let’s take a closer look at the collection, shall we? There are fantastic yet subtle neon strips, sheer sleeves and scores of feminine prints. lace, a trend we’re completely fawning over right now. The collection images dropped and we clicked through them multiple times before stepping away from the computer, only to come back and resume said clicking. Then Jason Wu popped up in our studios to shoot a film for the Resort collection and we were beside ourselves. Standing outside a studio door? Yeah, that was us. Stalkers.

KT Auleta directed the film which was styled by Kate Young, stars model Hailey Clauson and is all on an incredible set created by Jesse Kaufmann. Check out the video now.

All we want to do is shut down our computer and head out to the beach! Yes, we know it’s sweater time but this video is so inspiring. Okay, we’ll stay indoors and just watch the film again. PS, if you have yet to see the lookbook in full, click over to Jason Wu’s official website now.
