Design Artwork for Florence + the Machine

Grab a notepad because we’ve got something to tell you that you’ll want to write down. Talenthouse is working on a project titled Secret 7″ that combines “music and art in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust,” a charity that builds specialist units in NHS hospitals for teenagers who are battling cancer. So where’s the music? The art? Calm down! We’ll tell you.

For this project seven artists and bands are asking people to design original artwork for a seven inch vinyl sleeve inspired by a song of the artists choosing. The project will produce 700 unique vinyl sleeves that will be sold at an event in East London where funds for the Teenager Cancer Trust will also be raised.

Florence + the Machine have picked “Only If For a Night” as their song of choice and there have been some pretty awesome submissions thus far. Want to vote for your favorite? Click over to Talenthouse’s website now. But first, here are our Top 3 picks!

Artists, from left to right, are Jayan Gnanakumaran, Mark Belan and Rossella Fevola. Tweet us (@pier59studios) and tell us which your favorite is!

Jonathan Adler Makes Table Lamps That Make Us Cry

While reading through some of the latest content over at ArchitecturalDigest.com, we stumbled across a fantastic post about stylish table lamps and it got our interior designing gears turning. Our eyes have currently been scanning our surroundings for the perfect lamp to add into our living room. We are glad to report that we do believe the search is over. In the post, we came across an orange Jonathan Adler capri teardrop lamp which immediately drove us to the Jonathan Adler website. We quickly found that they have an assortment of colors for the capri teardrop lamp which blew our minds.

While we were initially intrigued by the orange lamp, we have to say that the gray version is looking really good! Which out of these five lamps catches your eye the most?

Architectural Digest Shows Us Their Buzz Worthy Buildings for 2012

In just one slideshow, Architectural Digest is letting us know all about some of the sickest buzz-worthy buildings to hopefully make their debut in the new year.

It’s no surprise that many of the showstoppers are in China—and not just in Beijing and Shanghai. An eclectic array of audacious structures is popping up in the fast-growing metropolises of Chengdu, Shenzhen, Dalian, and Guangzhou.

Take a look at our favorite building which is a fluid form constructed of glass-reinforced concrete. It is the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center being built in Baku, Azerbaijan. Zaha Hadid Architects definitely bring out their “signature sexy curves” with this architectural wonder, don’t they?

The structure appears so slick that all we want to do is place a crazy slip ‘n slide on top and go crazy. To see the other 11 selections, click over to the Architectural Digest website now.

Have You Paid Your Cable Bill?

Once a month, most of us trot out to our mailboxes and retrieve the modern equivalent of a Willy Wonka Golden Ticket: the cable bill. Okay. It’s no Golden Ticket but graphic designer Nathan Godding has figured out a way to entice his roommates to pony up their share on time. No, he doesn’t write in big, bold obnoxious letters on a dry erase board but he creates some incredibly entertaining typography-based posters.

Below is an example of Godding’s work that we came across over on Design.org.

Yup, if our bill came packaged like this, we just might very well be more inclined to cough up money as well. It feels more like a donation to creativity than to a monthly bill, right?
