BJORK CRASHING IN LA

Last night in LA marked another great screening as part of Cinema Tuesdays at the Montalban Theater in Hollywood - Bjork's Voltaic: The Volta Tour Live in Paris. Featuring footage taken from shows in Paris and Reykjavik during the 2007 Volta Tour. Our very own Booking Director, Erika Anderson, was on hand to experience and describe what was a mesmerizing blend of art, technology and music that was completely captivating to everyone in attendance. "The production design was visually stunning as always, the Icelandic songstress came out in an outfit that was insane as usual- a wild blend of ikat print, leopard, rainbows and black latex and started the experience immediately going into "The Hunter" to wild applause. The rest of the set included "Army of Me", "Joga", and the superb "Hyperballad". She was backed by some of the best names in electronic music, an all female brass section that resembled demented parrots, and a spectacular laser show that actually left you feeling like you maybe you took too many tabs before you came... Wow man, the lights, the colors.... Halfway through the set she changed clothes into a silver foil bubble dress that sometimes resembled a fallen Dynasty maven, and other times resembled Carrie on prom night - with pinky flesh leggings and barefeet. I kept looking at the animal banners above the stage trying to figure out what sort of animal she was. Nonetheless her blend of frenetic chaos, orchestral maneuvers, odd dances, crashes, hushed tones and screaming present an experience that is completely unparalleled. At times she is like a child and other times she is like an all knowing wise spectre in a sea of writhing bodies.... the animal who has no name (yet) began in a rather quiet and hushed tone and ended in a full blown rave with "Declare Independence". Bjork's Voltaic: The Volta Tour is screening nationwide during the months of June and July. Don't miss it! Artists like this are very few and far between and the visual experience is not to be missed. "
